GoSEQ Get GoSEQ

Leave-by countdowns and alerts

4 min read

GoSEQ starts from when you need to be there and works backwards. The result is one time to leave, counting down.

How the time is worked out

It adds up the walk to the stop at your own walking pace, the bus (live when TransLink has a live reading, otherwise the timetable), any change, and the walk at the other end. Home then shows one time, like Leave in 8 min.

Hurry! Leave now means you’re past the latest time you could leave at a normal pace. A time marked on time or 3 min late is live. Other times come from the timetable, usually because there’s no live reading for that bus yet.

GoSEQ never tells you to leave later than the timetable says. If a bus is running late, that’s shown as information, not a reason to cut it fine.

Get reminded

Tap Remind me on a trip. GoSEQ counts you down at 15, 10, 5, 3, 2 and 1 minutes before you need to leave, and follows the bus if it’s running late. You can change the steps in Me → Reminders → When to remind me.

For a School or Work routine, switch on Me → Reminders → Automatic leave reminders and you won’t need to tap anything.

During the trip

Tap Start trip and GoSEQ follows your actual bus: it walks you to the stop, tells you when to look up (Look up! means the bus is nearly at your stop), counts the stops, and tells you Your stop is coming up about two minutes before you get off. On the lock screen it shows as a live trip (iPhone needs iOS 16.2 or later). Tap I’m here at the end and the trip goes into your history.

If you’re not getting alerts

On iPhone, the web app added to your Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later) can send Leave now, your bus is 2 min away, running late, cancelled and get off at the next stop alerts. Add it from goseq.app/get.

Heads-ups for your usual bus (Pro)

With GoSEQ Pro, before you’d normally leave, GoSEQ checks your usual bus and sends one notification only if something’s wrong: it’s cancelled, won’t stop at your stop, is five minutes or more late, or has a service alert. If all is well you hear nothing. It needs the phone app, a School or Work routine with a Be there by time, and notifications on.

A guide, not a guarantee

Times come from public data and can be wrong, and notifications can fail. For anything that really matters, leave yourself extra time.
