Catch it further along (missed your bus?)
Missed your bus, or running tight? Sometimes the bus is still catchable a few stops on. GoSEQ finds the first stop further along its route that you can reach comfortably before it does.
Where you’ll find it
It opens from Chasing it!, which appears when you’re within about 15 minutes of your bus, and from its Missed it screen. Tap Catch it further along. It’s free for everyone.
What it shows
You choose how you’d get there: By car (a lift), On foot or By bus. GoSEQ then looks along the same bus’s route and picks the first stop where you’d arrive with a few minutes to spare.
- On the map, the bus’s way ahead is red and your way is blue.
- The meeting stop is circled and tagged with both times, for example You: 9:05 pm · Bus: ~9:11 pm.
- Below the map: how long it takes you, and when to set off.
Tap Meet it there and GoSEQ re-plans your trip to board at that stop.
How it’s kept safe
- The bus time shown is the earliest it could get there, not a late-running guess, so the margin is never flattered. Live positions can be 30 to 60 seconds behind.
- It needs a few minutes of spare time at the meeting stop. If none of the next stops give you that, it says No safe meeting point and shows the next bus instead.
- It keeps checking. If the bus speeds up and the margin gets thin, it moves the meeting point further along with a calm note, and never back.
- Stops on a motorway, busway or tunnel are treated as poor places to be dropped.
- If a live road time can’t be fetched, GoSEQ falls back to a slower rough estimate and labels it that way.
The screen never asks anyone to hurry or race. If you’re being given a lift, the note says it plainly: For the passenger. Drivers, eyes on the road.
When it’s better to wait
If the next bus is only a few minutes away, waiting is usually calmer than any meeting-point plan. GoSEQ shows See the next buses for exactly that. For a different way there altogether, Catching something else? (a GoSEQ Pro feature) re-plans with another service mid-trip.
Good to know
This works for South East Queensland trips. Road times use traffic-aware routing, and they are estimates: traffic changes.
