GoSEQ terms of use
Last updated 5 October 2026
GoSEQ is a public-transport app for South East Queensland, made by E&D Collective in Brisbane. By using GoSEQ (the app, the web version at goseq.app, or GoSEQ Pro) you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use GoSEQ.
GoSEQ is new, and it’s a guide
- It’s an early version. The web version is a beta: things may break, change or disappear, and some features are only in the phone apps.
- Times can be wrong. Timetables, live times, delays, cancellations and alerts come from TransLink’s public data. They can be late, missing or wrong, and our predictions are estimates. Leave yourself some spare time, and for a trip that really matters (an exam, a flight, the last service of the night) check TransLink or the signs at the stop too.
- Heads-ups and reminders can fail. A notification might arrive late, or not at all (your phone, its settings, your connection or our servers can all get in the way). Don’t rely on GoSEQ alone to be on time.
- Look after yourself. Walking directions are a guide, not a safe route: watch the road, follow road rules and signs, and don’t use GoSEQ while driving or riding.
- We’re independent. GoSEQ isn’t made by, endorsed by or affiliated with TransLink or the Queensland Government. Fares, services and conditions of travel are TransLink’s.
Accounts
- You can use GoSEQ without an account. To create one you need to be 13 or older.
- Keep your password to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can delete your account at any time (Me → your name → Delete account, or goseq.app/account).
GoSEQ Pro
- What it is: extra features, listed in the app. Live times and trip planning stay free.
- Free trial: a new account gets Pro free for 14 days, without a card. It starts automatically when you create your account, and counts down from that day whether or not you use Pro. It’s the same two weeks in the Android app, the iPhone app and on the web. After that it goes back to the free version unless you subscribe: live times and trip planning stay free. If you subscribe during those 14 days, your first payment is when they end, not before. We send one reminder shortly before they end, which you can turn off.
- Testers: Android testers on Google Play get GoSEQ Pro free while they’re testing, which means they’ve used the Android app, signed in, in the last 14 days. They can still subscribe if they’d like to support GoSEQ.
- Price and billing: A$2.99 a month or A$19.99 a year, including GST, unless the app shows a different price when you subscribe. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Where you pay: on the web (goseq.app/pay) you pay through Stripe. GoSEQ never sees your card details. In the Android or iPhone app you pay through Google Play or the App Store, under their terms. GoSEQ’s subscription service, RevenueCat, passes the purchase on to us so Pro follows your account to every phone you sign in to.
- Free days at checkout: if you subscribe during your 14 free days, the checkout shows the days you have left and the date of your first payment. They are not a new trial.
- Someone else paying: if you’re under 18, you can send a link to a parent or carer to pay for you. The link works for 7 days and for one payment. The person who pays is the customer: they agree to these terms for that payment, get the receipts, and manage or cancel the plan from the link we email them. You can see that someone else pays, but not who or how.
- Cancelling: cancel any time (goseq.app/account → Manage subscription, or your Google Play or App Store subscriptions). You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and aren’t charged again. Deleting your GoSEQ account cancels a web subscription, but a Google Play or App Store subscription has to be cancelled in that store.
- Refunds: we don’t refund part-used periods, except where the law says we must. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, including a refund or remedy when a service has a major failure.
- Changes: we may change what Pro includes or what it costs. A price change applies from your next renewal, and we’ll tell you before it does.
Get home safe and Help
- They’re optional helpers, not a safety service. Get home safe and Help need a GoSEQ account. They can fail: no signal, a flat phone, a late or missing email, or an email in spam. Don’t rely on them alone.
- GoSEQ is not an emergency service. It doesn’t contact emergency services and can’t send help. If you’re in danger, call 000.
- Only add people who agree. Your emergency contacts get an email asking if they’re happy to be one. Only add someone you know, and who’s expecting it. They can say no, or stop the emails, at any time.
- What your contacts see. If you don’t answer “All good?”, they’re emailed your first name, where you were last seen (in words) and your live trip link if you’re sharing one. If you press Help, your contacts, mates and (if you switched it on) family get a link to your exact live location until Help ends. Press and hold only when you mean it.
- Use it honestly. Don’t trigger Help as a joke, or add someone as a contact to scare or annoy them.
- How it works, and what we keep, is on the privacy page.
Help from GoSEQ Support
- You can message GoSEQ Support from the app, our website or support.goseq.app. The first replies come from Max, an AI helper. Max can be wrong, so check anything important, and ask for a person whenever you like.
- Support is not an emergency line, and we can’t promise how fast we’ll reply. For danger, call 000.
Family
- It’s optional and free. Family needs an account (13 or older). It lets up to 6 accounts share the trips they start with each other. It is not a way to track where someone is during the day, and it is not a safety service.
- Everyone has to agree. Someone joins only if they ask and an organiser or guardian says yes. Every person chooses what they share, and who sees it. Nothing is shared until they switch it on. Leaving is always allowed, and nobody is told when you pause.
- Be honest about who you are. Choose your real age group. Don’t add or pressure someone who hasn’t agreed, and don’t use Family to watch, harass or control anyone.
- Organisers and guardians can close a family or remove a member. Reports go to GoSEQ Support. We may close a family, remove a member or stop an account using Family if it’s used against these terms.
- What Family stores is on the privacy page.
“My bus was late” cards
- A card is a page made from your phone’s data, checked by our server where it could be. It shows the route, stop, timetabled and actual times, and whether the evidence was the live feed or the bus’s position. It shows no name or account.
- It’s a GoSEQ record, not an official TransLink record. It can be wrong. Nobody has to accept it, and we can’t promise that a school, employer or anyone else will.
- Only make a card about a real late trip, and don’t change one or pass it off as something else. Cards are deleted after 90 days.
Using GoSEQ fairly
- Don’t try to break, overload or get around GoSEQ’s limits, copy its data in bulk, or use it to harm, harass or mislead anyone (including through shared trips and support chats).
- Ask GoSEQ and the support helper are AI: answers can be wrong, and there are daily limits.
- We may suspend or close an account that’s used against these terms.
Whose data it is
GoSEQ contains TransLink (Queensland Government) data, used under CC BY 4.0, and maps © OpenStreetMap contributors. The GoSEQ app, name and design belong to E&D Collective.
If something goes wrong
We work hard to make GoSEQ accurate and reliable, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free or right. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t responsible for missed or late services, missed appointments, or any indirect loss from using GoSEQ, and our total liability to you is limited to supplying the service again or refunding what you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the problem. None of this limits guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can’t be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as GoSEQ changes. We’ll change the date at the top, and for a change that matters, tell you in the app. Using GoSEQ after that means you accept the new terms.
The law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
