Common questions

Planning trips

How does GoSEQ work out when I should leave?

It starts from when you need to be there and works backwards: the walk from the stop, the bus (live, when TransLink has it), any change, and the walk to the stop at your walking pace. Home then shows one time, like Leave in 8 min, and counts down to it. Hurry! Leave now means you’re past the latest time you could leave at a normal pace.

How do I plan a trip?

Tap Where to? on Home and type a place, an address, a stop or a route number. You can also type it like a text: school by 8:30, city by 5pm tomorrow or from UQ to Roma St at 6. You can also tap the mic and say it.

What is Ask GoSEQ?

It understands trip requests written the way you’d say them (a place, and when you need to be there or leave). Most are worked out on your phone. Only if it can’t work one out is the sentence sent to an AI helper (OpenAI), along with the names of your saved places (not their addresses).

Why does GoSEQ tell me to leave earlier than I need to?

It leaves you spare time at the stop (5 minutes unless you change it), so a slow crossing or an early bus doesn’t cost you the bus. Change it in Me → Walking → Spare time at the stop: 3, 5 or 10 minutes.

The walking times don’t match how fast I walk

In Me → Walking, choose Learn and GoSEQ works out your real pace from trips you run in GoSEQ, or pick Relaxed, Average, Brisk or an exact pace. You can also set how far you’re happy to walk to a stop.

Where does GoSEQ work?

Every bus, train, ferry and the G:link across South East Queensland: Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Moreton Bay, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, using TransLink’s open data.

Does it work without signal?

Yes. The timetable is stored on your phone, so trips still plan offline. Live times need a connection. When there isn’t one, GoSEQ says No connection — showing scheduled times.

It says the timetable needs updating

TransLink publishes new timetables regularly. GoSEQ picks them up by itself when you’re online. You can see how long the current one is valid in Me → About → Timetable. If it still says an update is needed, update GoSEQ from your app store.

How much does GoSEQ cost?

GoSEQ is free to download and use, with no ads, ever. Live times and trip planning stay free for good. GoSEQ Pro adds extra features for A$2.99 a month or A$19.99 a year, and every account can try it free for 14 days, once, with no card. GoSEQ is open to everyone: use it on any phone in the browser at goseq.app/web, or add it to your home screen from goseq.app/get. The Android app is on Google Play's test; the App Store app comes later.

What is the food card at a change?

If your trip has a wait of 8 minutes or more where you change buses, GoSEQ can show 2 to 4 places to eat or grab a drink nearby that get you back in time: each with the walk and a back by time (2 minutes before your next bus). Tap one for walking directions, a countdown, and a notification when it’s time to head back. GoSEQ never suggests bars, bottle shops or vape shops. Opening hours come from HERE and may be wrong, and times are estimates: the bus won’t wait.

Why does my trip say rain is likely?

For a walk of 3 minutes or more, GoSEQ checks HERE’s hourly forecast for the area around the stop you’re walking to. When rain is likely during your walk, it says so (for example “Rain is likely this hour. Your walk is 6 min.”) with a tip: leave a bit earlier or take an umbrella. The forecast is hourly, so GoSEQ never says rain will start “in 8 minutes”. For storms it adds: check the Bureau of Meteorology for warnings.

Can Ask GoSEQ plan a night out with food on the way?

Yes. In Ask GoSEQ, type something like “to South Bank by 7 with food on the way”. GoSEQ plans the trips on your phone as usual, finds food at your changes or near the end that fits the time, and an AI helper (OpenAI) picks one trip and up to two food stops and writes one sentence. It can only choose from the trips and places GoSEQ found, and its answer is checked: the times always come from GoSEQ’s planner. What goes to the AI: your words (with emails, phone numbers and street addresses removed), the routes, stop names, times and food names; never your name, account or where you are. If the AI isn’t available, GoSEQ picks by its own rules.

Reminders

How do leave reminders work?

Tap Remind me on a trip. GoSEQ counts you down before you need to leave: 15, 10, 5, 3, 2 and 1 minutes before, unless you change it. It follows the bus if it’s running late. On Android it’s one notification that updates. On iPhone each step is its own notification, grouped together.

For trips you’ve set a routine for, like School or Work, switch on Me → Reminders → Automatic leave reminders and you won’t need to tap anything.

I’m not getting reminders

GoSEQ’s notifications need to be switched on. If they’re off, the Me tab shows Notifications are off. Tap it to go straight to the setting.

Android: Settings → Apps → GoSEQ → Notifications. iPhone: Settings → GoSEQ → Notifications → Allow Notifications.

Do Not Disturb, Focus modes and some battery savers can also hold notifications back.

My reminder arrived a few minutes late

On Android 14 and later, apps need Alarms & reminders switched on to notify you on the minute. If it’s off, Me → Reminders shows Reminders may be a few minutes late. Tap it and turn the switch on.

Can I change when reminders come?

Yes, in Me → Reminders → When to remind me. Pick any of 30, 20, 15, 10, 5, 3, 2 and 1 minutes before, and When it’s time. To turn one reminder off, tap Reminder on on that trip.

Can I get trip alerts on iPhone without the App Store app?

Yes, from the GoSEQ web app added to your Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later; in a Safari tab Apple doesn’t allow it). Start a trip and GoSEQ asks once whether to turn notifications on. Then, even with GoSEQ closed, you can get Leave now, your bus is 2 min away, running late, cancelled and get off at the next stop. The get-off alert works from the bus’s position, not your phone’s. Me → On the web app has the switch and Send me a test, and Keep screen on during trips. If a 10+ minute delay or a cancellation can’t reach your phone twice in a row, one email goes to your confirmed address instead. GoSEQ keeps the notification address and the plan of the trip (services, stops, times, never your location) only until the trip ends. Lock-screen live trips and widgets need the App Store app, which comes later.

Live buses & the map

Where do the live times come from?

From TransLink’s real-time feed, checked every few seconds while you’re looking. A time marked on time or 3 min late is live. Other times are from the timetable, usually because TransLink has no live reading for that bus yet.

Which bus am I on? Where do the fleet number and photo come from?

While you’re on a bus, or after tapping one on the map, the Your bus card shows its fleet number (for Transport for Brisbane buses and Brisbane Metro, where TransLink’s number is the one painted on the bus), who runs it and, when GoSEQ knows, its make and model with a photo of that model (not always that exact bus). The facts come from public sources and the photos from Wikimedia Commons; every one is credited at goseq.app/credits. It’s about the bus, not you: your phone looks the bus up itself. If it’s wrong, tap Is this right?. Turn on Bus fan in Me → Trip screen to see bus details on departures and a count of the different buses you’ve ridden, which stays on your phone.

It says “Live times unavailable — showing the timetable”

TransLink’s live feed isn’t answering right now, so GoSEQ shows scheduled times until it’s back. That’s on TransLink’s side, and it usually sorts itself out within minutes.

A bus was late, early or didn’t come

GoSEQ shows what TransLink reports, and occasionally a bus stops reporting or runs differently. Tell us the route, stop and time and we’ll check what GoSEQ showed. To complain about the service itself, contact TransLink on 13 12 30.

How do I save a stop?

On the Map, tap the stop, then tap the ★. It appears under My stops on Home. In Me → My stops you can show only buses going to one of your places.

What happens when I tap Start trip?

GoSEQ follows your actual bus. It walks you to the stop turn by turn, counts the stops, buzzes when it’s time to get off, handles any change, and walks you to the door. If you miss the bus, tap Missed it (or Not on it) and it finds the next way there. The trip also shows on your lock screen (on iPhone, iOS 16.2 or later).

How do I share my trip with family?

Start the trip, then tap Share live trip. They get a link that shows your bus moving on a map and when you’ll arrive. They don’t need the app. Sharing needs a free GoSEQ account, and the link stops working when the trip ends (after 12 hours at most).

Can I see traffic on the map?

Yes. On the Map tab, tap Traffic (under the zoom buttons) to colour the roads by live traffic from HERE: green flowing, orange slow, red very slow. Tap it again to turn it off; GoSEQ remembers your choice. If it says Traffic unavailable right now, the day’s traffic allowance is used up or HERE isn’t answering: try again later. Busways aren’t affected by road traffic.

Why is my bus late?

When a bus is 3 or more minutes late, its sheet on the map and your trip screen show a Why? link. It draws the next few kilometres of the route coloured by traffic and gives the likeliest reason: slow traffic on a named road, the bus leaving the depot or its first stop late, a delay that usually happens at that time, or TransLink’s own words. It also says whether the bus may catch up. Grey means no traffic data, never “clear”. It’s a best guess from live traffic and the bus’s own times, not TransLink’s official reason.

Does GoSEQ warn me about crashes and road closures?

Yes. If HERE reports a crash, closure or major roadworks on the route of your usual bus in the hour before you catch it, GoSEQ can send one heads-up, and names a bus that avoids it when there is one. Line pages list reported incidents too, after TransLink’s alerts. Heads-ups for your usual bus are part of GoSEQ Pro (see Mates & heads-ups). Incidents are reports from HERE: GoSEQ says “reported” and “may”, because not every report slows a bus.

What does “Off its usual route” or “Not moving” mean?

GoSEQ compares where a bus is with its route. Off its usual route (maybe a detour) means it has been more than 300 metres from its route for a little while. Not moving for about N min means it has stayed in one place for over 4 minutes away from any stop. When HERE reports a closure or crash nearby, GoSEQ says that may be why; otherwise it says it’s not sure. Buses heading to start their run or back to the depot are never flagged. It’s a guess from the bus’s position, so always check TransLink’s alerts for official detours.

Is there a page for my bus route?

Yes. Every route has a line page: its stops, how often it runs, the first and last service, how late it usually runs, live buses now, alerts and the bus types on it. In the app, search for the route number or tap See the whole route on a bus. On the web, type goseq.app/ and the route: for example goseq.app/380, goseq.app/s740 or goseq.app/m1.

Places & routines

How do I set up School or Work?

Go to Me → Places, choose School or Work, add the address and choose Regularly. Set Be there by, the days, and (if you like) Head home after. School days follows TransLink’s school calendar, and Weekdays skips public holidays. Home then shows the right trip at the right time.

Can I save other places?

Yes. Me → Places → Add a place for Gran’s, footy training or a part-time job. Choose Now and then to keep it for whenever you need it, Regularly for a routine, or One day for a single trip.

How do I choose the bus I usually catch?

On Home, tap Choose your bus on the trip and pick your usual bus and a backup. Or tap Let GoSEQ choose for me. You can clear them in Me → Places.

My home is in the wrong spot

Go to Me → Places → Home, search your address again, then move the map until the pin sits on your front door. Walks start and end there, so the closer the better.

GoSEQ keeps picking a stop I don’t use

Tap the stop you prefer on the Map and choose Use this stop when leaving your place, or open a trip and tap Use a different stop on the walk to the stop. You can see and undo these choices in Me → Places.

How does GoSEQ know the car time to a drop-off stop?

When you are being dropped at a stop, GoSEQ asks HERE (a maps company) for the drive from where you are, with today’s traffic, to a few stops on your bus’s route. It sends your start rounded to about 110 metres and the stops, with no name or account, and shows “Leave in 4 min and you’ll make the 385 at Stop 19” or suggests another stop if traffic is bad. These are estimates: roads change, so leave a little spare. It only happens on the drop-off screen, when you ask for a drop-off.

GoSEQ Pro & payments

What is GoSEQ Pro?

GoSEQ’s paid extras, for people who ride every day: Heads-up for your usual bus, switching buses mid-trip (Catching something else?), I got off early, all your trip stats, the rest of Your year on transport, app icons, and more widget styles.

Free for everyone, for good: live times, trip planning, reminders, the map, sharing a trip, colours, the reliability card, Chasing it!, Mates and I’m pulling up!, your streak and trip history, and the Next trip widget. No ads, ever.

How much is GoSEQ Pro?

A$2.99 a month, or A$19.99 a year (about A$1.67 a month, so you save 44%). Prices include GST. It renews by itself until you cancel.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every GoSEQ account can have Pro free for 14 days, once, with no card. On the web (goseq.app/web or goseq.app/account) it doesn’t start by itself: tap Start your free 14 days (no card) when you sign up, or later in Me → GoSEQ Pro, whenever you’d like to try it. In the Android or iPhone app it starts by itself the first time you sign in there. It’s once per account, whichever comes first: if you already used your 14 days on the web, signing in to the app doesn’t start another 14. (Android testers on Google Play already get Pro free while they’re testing; their 14 days wait until that ends.)

Once they start, the 14 days count down whether or not you use Pro. There’s nothing to cancel: when they end, GoSEQ goes back to the free version unless you subscribe. If you subscribe during them, you’re not charged until they end. Me → GoSEQ Pro shows the date they end and how many days are left.

Will GoSEQ tell me before my free two weeks end?

Yes, once. About three days before your free two weeks of GoSEQ Pro end, GoSEQ sends one reminder with the date: a notification on your phone, or one email if you have no phone signed in. It’s only a reminder. If you don’t want Pro you don’t need to do anything: nothing is charged, there’s no card on your account, and live times and trip planning stay free.

To turn it off, go to Me → GoSEQ Pro and switch off Remind me before my free Pro ends, or use the Turn this reminder off link in the email. People who already subscribe, or who have Pro for testing, don’t get it.

Why does the checkout say something like “16 days free”?

Those are the days left of the free two weeks your account already has. They’re not a new trial. If you subscribe during your free two weeks, your first payment waits until they end, so the checkout shows the days that are left and the date of the first payment: for example A$0.00 today, then A$2.99 a month from 19 October. Cancel any time before that date and you pay nothing.

If your free two weeks have ended, or end in the next two days, there are no free days to show: you’re charged when you subscribe, then each month or year.

How do I get GoSEQ Pro?

You need a free GoSEQ account. In the Android app, go to Me → GoSEQ Pro and choose monthly or yearly: you pay through Google Play. On the web, go to goseq.app/account: you pay securely through Stripe. Either way Pro turns on for your account on every phone you sign in to. Subscribing in the iPhone app, through the App Store, is coming soon. GoSEQ never asks for card details in a chat or an email.

How do I cancel or change my subscription?

If you subscribed on the web: goseq.app/account → Manage subscription, where you can switch plans, update your card or cancel. If you subscribed through Google Play or the App Store, cancel in that store’s subscriptions. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you aren’t charged again. Deleting your GoSEQ account also cancels a web subscription.

Can I get a refund?

GoSEQ doesn’t refund part-used periods, except where the law says it must: your rights under the Australian Consumer Law always apply. If you were charged when you didn’t expect to be, or charged twice, start a support chat and choose Payments. Isaac looks at every payment question himself. Store purchases are refunded through Google Play or the App Store.

What happens when Pro ends?

GoSEQ goes back to the free version. Nothing is deleted: your places, trips and settings stay, the extra stats and recap cards are hidden again, and Pro-only widget styles and app icons go back to the standard ones. Subscribe again any time to get them back. If a card payment fails, Pro carries on for a few days while the payment is retried: update your card under Manage subscription.

Why do I have Pro without paying?

Maybe you’re in your free 14 days, you’re testing the Android app (Android testers on Google Play get GoSEQ Pro free while they’re testing), or GoSEQ gave it to you. Me → GoSEQ Pro says which, and until when. You can still subscribe if you’d like to support GoSEQ: tap Subscribe anyway there.

Can a parent pay for my Pro?

Yes. If you’re under 18, you can send a link to a parent or carer. It works for 7 days and for one payment. The page shows your first name only. They enter their own email (for receipts and a link to manage the plan) and their card, which goes to Stripe, never to GoSEQ. You’ll be told it was paid, and you can see that someone else pays, but not who or how.

Mates & heads-ups

What are Mates?

Mates are friends and family you can tell you’re nearly there, with one tap: I’m pulling up! sends them a notification like “Sam is pulling up! 3 min away · getting off at Main St”. No location is ever sent or kept, just the minutes and the stop. Mates see your first name and nothing else. Mates are free, and need a free GoSEQ account. If you're in a family (People → Family), the people in it can get I’m pulling up! too, the same way.

How do I add a mate?

Go to People → Mates and tap Get your code. Send your mate the code. It changes every 5 minutes, so send it soon after you get it. When they type it in, you’re asked, and you’re mates once you say yes. Only say yes to people you know. You can remove a mate any time, and doing so gives you a new code. Switch on Invisible and nobody can send you a pull-up until you switch it off.

How do I send “I’m pulling up!”?

During a trip, once you’re on the bus, tap I’m pulling up! and pick who to tell. They need GoSEQ on their phone with notifications on. You can send a mate one every few minutes.

What is Heads-up for your usual bus?

A GoSEQ Pro feature for your School or Work routine. Before you’d leave, GoSEQ checks your usual bus against TransLink’s live data and sends one notification only if something’s wrong: it’s cancelled, won’t stop at your stop, is running 5 minutes or more late, or has a TransLink alert. When it can, it tells you what to catch instead. If all’s well, you hear nothing.

How do I switch on heads-ups?

In the app on your phone: Me → Reminders → Heads-up for your usual bus. You need to be signed in, have notifications on, and have a School or Work routine with a Be there by time (in Me → Places). A browser can’t get them.

What is “Pick me up”?

When you are waiting at a stop or have just got off, tap Pick me up and send the link to whoever is coming (it works in any browser; they don’t need GoSEQ). They see the stop you are at. If they tap I’m on my way and allow their location, their phone asks for the car time with traffic, and you see “about 7 min away” in GoSEQ. Your location is never shared: the page shows the stop, not your phone. Their position is used only for that car time and is not saved. It ends when they say they’ve arrived or you tap Done, and after 75 minutes at the latest, and then the stop and the time are deleted.

Family

What is Family?

A family is up to 6 people who can share the trips they start in GoSEQ with each other. You share trips, not where you are all day: GoSEQ never shows where anyone is between trips, and Family keeps no history of where anyone has been. While a trip is on, the family’s trip card shows the bus and the trip’s progress. That is erased soon after the trip ends. It’s free and needs a GoSEQ account (for people 13 and over).

Family is being switched on bit by bit. If you don’t see People → Family yet, it isn’t on for you yet. When you start a trip, the people you switched on can follow it: which bus you’re on, when you’ll be there, and (if you chose them) a heads-up when you’re on the bus, when you’ve arrived, when you’re running late and when your bus is cancelled. It all ends when your trip does.

Family shares updates about trips. It isn’t a safety service. GoSEQ doesn’t contact emergency services and can’t send help. If you’re in danger, call 000.

How do I start or join a family?

To start one, go to the People tab, then Family → Start a family. Only someone 18 or over can start a family. Then tap Invite someone and send the code or link yourself. It changes every 5 minutes, so send it soon after you get it. GoSEQ never emails or texts anyone for you.

To join, open the link, or go to the People tab, then Family → I have a code. You choose your age group, what you want to share and who can see it, then tap Ask to join. You’re in once the organiser or a guardian says yes. Nothing about you is shared before that, and you can only be in one family at a time.

Who can see my trips in a family?

Nobody, until you switch that person on yourself. Every switch starts off, for parents too, and only you can change yours, on your own phone. The People tab (Family) shows exactly what you share and with whom, and lists every family message about you from the last 7 days. Being the organiser or a guardian doesn’t let anyone see anyone’s trips. While your trip is on, your trip screen says who can see it, and you can pause (silent) or stop sharing it at any time.

If I pause or leave a family, is anyone told?

No. Pause (for an hour, until tomorrow, or until you switch it back on) is silent: to your family it looks the same as not being on a trip. Leaving is silent too, and sharing stops straight away, but you’ll no longer be on the family’s list. Parents are told this before they invite anyone. If the organiser removes someone, that person gets one notification.

Does my family find out if I press Help?

Only if you turned on Tell my family when I press Help (People → Family → Who can see my trips). It’s off unless you turn it on. With it on, pressing Help also sends everyone in your family a link to your live Help page, even while sharing is paused. Get home safe’s “hasn’t checked in” message to your parents or guardians is a separate switch, Tell my guardians if I haven’t checked in, also off unless you turn it on. GoSEQ doesn’t contact emergency services and can’t send help. If you’re in danger, call 000.

What does my family get when I share a trip?

Only what you switched on for each person, and only while your trip is going: Live (they can open your trip and see the bus and when you’ll be there; never where your phone is), On the bus, Got there, and Running late (also used if your bus is cancelled). GoSEQ only sends one when it is sure: if it can’t tell, it sends nothing, so a quiet phone never means something is wrong, and it never means everything is fine. Nothing is sent at night about a late or cancelled bus. Pause stops it silently. Every message is listed under What was sent for 7 days.

Your account

Do I need an account?

No, GoSEQ works fully without one. A free account (13 and over) keeps your places and settings on any phone and lets you share trips live. Your trip stats work either way.

I forgot my password

In the app, go to Me → Sign in and tap Forgot your password? (or use goseq.app/account). Enter your email, then the 6-digit code we email you, and choose a new password. If you use an authenticator app for two-step verification, you’ll need a code from it (or a backup code) too. Resetting signs out every other phone. If you’re still signed in, you can also change it in Me → your name → Change password.

My settings aren’t the same on my other phone

Sign in with the same account on both. Under your name in Me it says when it last synced. The newest change wins, and a phone signing in for the first time takes the account’s copy.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Me → your name → Delete account, then enter your password. Your account, synced settings, trip history and paths, trip ratings’ details, shared trips and trip pages, emergency contacts and Get home safe or Help data, family and mate connections, pick-ups, “my bus was late” cards and push addresses are deleted straight away. A web subscription is cancelled too. A Google Play or App Store subscription has to be cancelled in that store. Payment records that Stripe, the stores and RevenueCat must keep stay with them. If you can’t get into the app, see goseq.app/delete-account or email info@eanddcollective.com.

How do I start fresh on this phone?

Me → About → Reset GoSEQ on this phone clears your places, stops, reminders and settings from this phone and signs you out. Your account, if you have one, isn’t deleted.

How does GoSEQ update?

Most updates arrive by themselves, over the air, without the app store. With Me → Updates → Update automatically on (it is unless you change it), GoSEQ tells you when one’s ready and installs it the next time you open the app, never in the middle of a trip. Now and then an update is required and installs before you carry on. Me → Updates shows what’s new, and Me → About shows your version.

How do I join the beta?

There’s no waiting list any more: GoSEQ is open to everyone. On any phone, open goseq.app/web in your browser (on iPhone, add it to your Home Screen from goseq.app/get for notifications and a full-screen app). On Android you can also join Google Play’s test from goseq.app/get. Android testers on Google Play get GoSEQ Pro free while they’re testing.

Can I use dark mode or change the colours?

Yes, in Me → Appearance: light, dark or match your phone, a colour theme or your own colour, and pure black for dark mode.

Can anyone use GoSEQ now?

Yes. GoSEQ is open to everyone, with no invite or code. On any phone, open goseq.app/web in the browser. On iPhone, add it to your Home Screen (goseq.app/get shows how, step by step): it opens full screen, and it can send trip alerts. On a computer, goseq.app/get has an Open GoSEQ in your browser button and a QR code for your phone. The Android app is on Google Play’s test (also from goseq.app/get), and the App Store app comes later.

How do I set GoSEQ up quickly?

GoSEQ’s setup walks you through it step by step: your places and routines, alerts, the map, people and more. It opens when you first start GoSEQ, and a card on Home lets you finish what you skipped. Every step can be skipped, and closing it keeps your progress. To go through it again: Me → Run setup again. Everything works without an account; an account keeps it on all your phones.

Privacy & safety

How does Get home safe work, and what do my contacts get?

Get home safe is optional and needs a GoSEQ account. You add up to two emergency contacts with their email address. Each gets one email asking if they agree, and nothing else is sent unless they say yes. GoSEQ reaches contacts by email only; it doesn’t send texts. On a watched trip (one you turn it on for, a trip at night if you chose that, or every trip if you chose that), your phone sends your position (rounded to about 100 m) every minute so GoSEQ can tell if something may be wrong. If you don’t answer All good? in time, each contact who said yes gets an email with your first name, where you were last seen in words and your live trip link if you’re sharing one. Never your exact location. The position is deleted when the trip ends and the rest within 12 hours. Contacts can stop the emails at any time from a link in them. It can fail (no signal, a flat phone, an email in spam). GoSEQ doesn’t contact emergency services and can’t send help. If you’re in danger, call 000. Details: goseq.app/privacy#get-home-safe.

What happens when I press and hold Help?

Only while Help is on, your phone sends your exact live location to a page at a secret link. Your emergency contacts are emailed the link (and again every 10 minutes until one presses I’ve got this), your mates get a notification with it, and so does your family if you turned on Tell my family when I press Help. Help lasts 2 hours unless you keep it going, and 8 hours at most. When you hold I’m OK, or Help ends, sharing stops and every location point is deleted. GoSEQ keeps only when it started and ended and who was told, for 24 hours. This is the only time GoSEQ shares your exact location with anyone. GoSEQ doesn’t contact emergency services and can’t send help. If you’re in danger, call 000.

What is a “My bus was late” card?

A page you can make from a late trip. It shows the route, the stop, the timetabled and actual times, and whether the proof was TransLink’s live feed or the bus’s position. It shows no name, account or location trail, and it’s deleted after 90 days (or when you delete it). It’s a GoSEQ record made from your phone’s data, checked by our server where it could be. It isn’t an official TransLink record, so a school or employer doesn’t have to accept it.

Does GoSEQ track my location?

Only for features you use, and never to sell or advertise. Your location plans trips from where you are; searches and routes send only what they need, rounded (about 1 km for searches, 10 metres for routes). A few things you choose do keep or share it: trip paths record the way you went during trips you start (also with GoSEQ in the background while the trip is on), for your trip history (switch off in Me → Your trips → Record trip paths); sharing your bus sends where the bus is while you're on board, not linked to you (switch off in Me); Get home safe sends your rough position (about 100 m) during a watched trip (one you turn it on for, a trip at night, or every trip if you choose that in Me → Get home safe) and deletes it when the trip ends; Pick me up (when you tap it) sends the stop you are waiting at, never your phone’s position, and the driver’s phone sends its own position to get a car time, which is not kept; drop-off times send where you are, rounded to about 110 metres, to HERE (a maps company that works out car times with traffic) with no name or account; walking routes may come from HERE too, and send the start and end of the walk; food at a change stop and rain on your walk send only the position of the bus stop (a public place; for rain, rounded to a 5 km area), never yours; and on the iPhone web app, trip alerts keep the plan of a trip you start (services, stops and times, never your location) until it ends. And Help shares your exact live location with your contacts (and, through a link, with your mates, and your family if you turned on Tell my family when I press Help) only while Help is on. Family keeps no history of where anyone has been: a trip’s card is erased soon after the trip ends. Full details: goseq.app/privacy.

I feel unsafe on a bus, train or at a stop

In an emergency, call 000. On a service, tell the driver or station staff, or call TransLink on 13 12 30. If something about GoSEQ put you in a bad spot, contact us and choose Safety. A person on the GoSEQ team reads every safety report.

What happens when I rate a trip?

After I’m here, GoSEQ may ask How was the trip? (at most once a day; turn it off in Me → Trip screen → Ask me to rate trips). Nothing is sent until you press Send. Then we get your rating and anything you ticked or wrote, plus diagnostic logs if you leave them on: the trip’s plan and what happened on it (getting on and off, alerts), recent app errors, and how accurate your GPS was, never the readings. Your trip’s actual path is only sent if you turn on Include my trip’s path, and it’s deleted after 30 days. Screenshots only if you add them. A person on the GoSEQ team reads every one; replies appear in Me → Help & support. Details: goseq.app/privacy#trip-ratings.

What happens to what I send to support?

We keep your email address, your messages, any screenshots you add and (from the app, if you choose) the app version, phone type and settings that matter for support, never your location, to answer you. Our AI helper, Max, writes the first replies: the conversation and those app details (not your email address) are sent to OpenAI to do it. A person on the GoSEQ team steps in for anything serious, and can read any request. Requests are deleted 12 months after they close, or sooner if you email info@eanddcollective.com with the reference. Details: goseq.app/privacy.
